How To Play A Position: The Bench

Who you are:
You are the alert one waiting to play again. You are the resting one getting your energy back. You are the watching one so that when you're back in you're at full speed right away. You are the quiet one, behaving well so that the game runs smoothly. You are the cheerer.
Where You Play:
You play off the field. It is an actual position.
On Defense:
Watch where the other team likes to move the ball so that you can be there to stop them when you're in. Look at which of their players takes shots so you can get in the way. Look at who their good players are so that you can mark them.
On Offense:
Look at where their defenders play. Look at where the other team leaves space. Look at who their weak players are so you can attack them.
Remember:
Being on the bench is serious business. You have to get your energy back. You have to be watching the game and figuring out what you'll do when you're back in. You have to be ready to play at any time, and play at your top speed and form.
